These technologies are aimed primarily at protecting elderly pedestrians in collisions and drivers. In explanation of this position are statistics which show that in Japan more than half of traffic accidents – people aged 65 and older, and pedestrians account for more deaths than passenger vehicles.
One of the novelties is a system to prevent accidents PCS, which receives the data using special radar operating in the millimeter range, and two cameras. In the case of detection of the object, which may clash, the system will signal the driver. If over time the driver takes no action PCS is able to automatically stop the machine. However, such systems are already equipped with many cars, the unique design as Toyota is that, if necessary PCS independently of the car changes direction to avoid an accident.
One more Japanese company controls the cardiovascular system driver with a sensor on the steering wheel. As noted in the Toyota, this design will prevent accidents that occur due to a heart attack or unconscious driver. At the moment date of occurrence of the system on serial machines are not specified.
Two other recent developments are analogous to systems already used in cars of other brands. Thus, the development of “bouncing” cowl can repay the impact energy and prevent serious injury to pedestrians may get in an accident. Another system automatically switches the high beam to dipped for to avoid blinding oncoming cars.
